About the Editor!

My name is Dominic Roman (@DOMROMAN) and I am a football obsessive! This obsession has been with me as long as I can remember, and much of it revolves around supporting Torquay United.

I was brought up in Teignmouth (not exactly a footballing hot-bed!), and started going to Plainmoor with my dad when Dave Smith was in charge around 1989. We used to sit in the old Family Stand on benches, and surrounded by some men using good old footie rattles – yes it was that long ago!

I loved the atmosphere from the start. From being so close to the action, the food smells, the shouts from the crowd and celebrating the goals – I was hooked.

My favourite player was instantly Mark Loram, a lazy looking winger who had magic on the wing – a player who could create something out of nothing. We haven’t had many of those over the years.

Since then I have ridden the football rollercoaster that is the mighty ‘Gulls’. I have been a season ticket holder for a number of years, and currently reside in Bristow’s Bench on Saturdays and Tuesday nights between Aug-April – still sat alongside my dad and Rich Heesem.

Our recent troubles have been painful but only spurred me on in my support of the club; after all in times like these your team needs you more. They are my team, for good times and bad.

I started writing properly about the club in 2014 for the brilliant fanzine ‘Highway to Hele’ and then also signed up to contribute to the official club programme.

I have written Match in Time, View from Bristow’s Blog and an A-Z of Torquay United articles for the programme since then. This season I am talking the World of Sport!

I have created this blog site to not only share articles from those publications, but also add other choice articles such as match reports and other views on goings on at Plainmoor – including my weekly TT blog.

The content on the site continues to progress, with more contributors signing up (including the one and only Luke Hunter!) and more articles being published. This is a TUFC blog site ran by proper fans and we won’t stop writing about our team!

Please feel free to share articles, add comments and opinions on anything – as long as it’s Torquay United related! Thank you for your support.
